On Saturday 1st April 2023 an excellent Annual General Meeting of the Provincial Grand Court of Sussex was held at the Masonic Hall in Winchester. In attendance was RW Bro Charles Jonathan Aspinell JP, GCh, GCAG, The Assistant Grand Master. Also in attendance were five Provincial Grand Masters, namely the Provincial Grand Master for Northumbria RW Bro. Bill Carlyon GCAG, the Provincial Grand Master for Wessex RW Bro Keith Waters KAG, the Provincial Grand Master for Magonsaetan RW Bro John Glyn Evans JP, GCAG, the Provincial Grand Master for Essex RW Bro Roderick Bradley KAG and the Provincial Grand Master for Kent RW Bro Alan Cook KAG. Also representing the Province of Magonsaetan were the Provincial Senior Grand Warden W Bro Keith Eckley KAG and the Provincial Grand Captain of the Guard W Bro Andrew Brayley. A most pleasant and well organised meeting, with over 80 brethren in attendance, including many senior members of other Orders. Huge congratulations to RW Bro Lionel Broadbent Mee GCAG, his Deputy VW Bro Mark Peter Donovan KAG, PGSwdB and all Officers of the Province of Sussex that were appointed or reappointed to Provincial Grand rank. Your warm and welcoming hospitality was second to none.
On Saturday 18th March 2023 I had the pleasure of attending and witnessing the Installation of the new Provincial Grand Master for the Province of Kent, RW Bro Alan Cook KAG. The Installation meeting was held at the Masonic Centre, Franklin Road, Gillingham. The Installation was conducted by RW Bro Charles J. Aspinell GCh, GCAG, The Assistant Grand Master, assisted by Officers of Grand Court. It was also wonderful to see RW Bro Ralph M. Apperley GCAG, the outgoing Provincial Grand Master present and a most wonderful meeting and festive board was had. On behalf of the Province of Magonsaetan we send hearty congratulations and best wishes to RW Bro Alan Cook KAG, his Deputy, W Bro Andy Mahoney KAG and all of the Officers of Provincial Grand Court appointed on the day.

On Saturday 11th March 2023 at the first regular meeting of the John Benjamin Lloyd Court No.85, the Worshipful Master of the Court, RW Bro John Glyn Evans JP, GCAG Provincial Grand Master ably assisted by his team of Court Officers had the pleasure of Instructing Bro David Joyce into the Order. Bro David is the first candidate to be Instructed into the Court since its Consecration last July 2022. On Saturday 28th January The Court of Sweyn's Eye No.17 held their Installation meeting at Swansea Masonic Hall.
Along with the members of the Court, there were a number of visitors from around the Province who attended the Installation of the Court including the Provincial Grand Master RW Bro John G. Evans JP, GCAG, who was supported by several of his Provincial Officers including W Bro Steve Devlin KAG, the Deputy Grand Marshal being a member from the Province of Wessex who visited the Court whilst on his holidays down on the Gower Peninsula.
We were also pleased to welcome RW Bro Michael V. Eckley GCAG, PJGW, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master of the Provincial Grand Lodge of West Wales and also VW Bro D. Gerald Rowbottom, PGSwdB, the Provincial Grand Master and Most Excellent Grand Superintendent in and over the Provincial Grand Lodge of South Wales.
The Installing Master W Bro James Wall installed his successor Bro Paul Everett in a sincere manner with the Traditional History beautifully explained to the Master Elect. This was then followed by the Address beautifully delivered by Bro Mark Davies (Senior Warden of the Court).
The Court was also blessed with an excellent Lecture delivered by W Bro Dr Paul R. Calderwood, (Junior Deacon of the Court), from his most recent book titled: This Chequered Existence - A History of Freemasonry in the Twentieth-century 1900 - 1999. Available at www.lewismasonic.co.uk

We off our sincere congratulations to W Bro T. Iwan B. Jenkins JP our Provincial Grand Almoner on being reappointed Assistant Provincial Grand Summus for the Province of West Wales in The Ancient and Masonic Order of the Scarlet Cord, in the British Isles and it’s Districts and Consistories Overseas today at the Annual Provincial meeting held in Carmarthen. We wish you Distinguished Companion Iwan and the Province a healthy and happy year ahead.
On Saturday 21th January 2023 the Court of St. Elli No.12 held their annual Installation meeting at the Masonic Hall, Harries Avenue, Llanelli . The Master Elect Brother Matthew Richards was Installed by W Bro David Inkin, in a sincere manner. The meeting was well attended by both members of the Court and Provincial Grand Court, with the Provincial Grand Master - RW Bro John Glyn Evans JP, GCAG in attendance. A most wonderful meeting was had, with the Address delivered by VW Bro Anthony Baker KAG, PGTreas and an excellent lecture on the Rosetta Stone was given by WBro Keith M. Eckley.
Friday 13th of January a meeting of the Court of Camelot No.21 was held in Chepstow
The Court of Idwal Foel No.159 held their first Installation meeting since their Consecration back in March 2022. Due to the Worshipful Master having recently undergone an operation which meant thy he was unable to be present, W Bro Dr William Henderson Munro ProvGOrg volunteered to Install the Master Elect Bro Christopher Jones into the Chair at short notice. This was done in a sincere manner and a most wonderful evening was had. The festive board was held at the Bridge End Hotel, Llangollen, where we had a lovely meal. Many Provincial Officers had travelled long distances to be in attendance to escort the Provincial Grand Master in support of the Court.
Had the pleasure today of being the guest of our Grand Master MW Bro Paul W. Johnston SGM, witnessing him receiving his 30th Degree at the Grand East, 10 Duke Street, St James’s, London, followed by a lovely festive board at Mark Mason’s Hall. Also lovely to meet up with many members of the Masonic Order of Athelstan there.
On Tuesday 29th November 2022 the Court of Castell Penfro No.139 held their annual Installation meeting at the Masonic Hall, Bush Street, Pembroke Dock. The Master Elect Brother David Greig was Installed by W & Em Bro Revd. Fr. Malcolm Lane JP, DepGEmPrior, ProvEmGPrior, in a sincere manner. The meeting was well attended by both members of the Court and Provincial Grand Officers.
In attendance to support the Provincial Grand Master - RW Bro John Glyn Evans JP, GCAG, there were no fewer than ten present and past Provincial Grand Officers who had travelled great distances to be in attendance.
A most wonderful meeting was had, with the Address delivered by VW Bro Anthony Baker KAG, PGTreas, ProvGTreas, a member of The Court of Penychen No.53. The Lecture was given by W Bro Capt. Christopher F. Phillips, newly appointed and invested Marshal of the Court.
Also, W Bro Wyn Evans PPrSGD, a member of the Court of St Elli No.12 made a presentation of an Hourglass to the Court. A most pleasurable evening was had which was followed by a very happy and enjoyable festive board at The Helm.
